I really like it when people shorten my name. David really isn't a long name by any means, but when you shorten it, it adds a certain sense of... I don't know, closeness? More along the lines of familiarity. Dave, Davey, Davy, even Davido, D-money or D-Unit. I'm not one of those close-minded fellows that doesn't like his name to be toyed with. Toy away! I'd really enjoy a spontaneously created name. Kind of like, Christina being The Fuzzylumpkins, or Walter being the Baron or the Pirate. Davy Jones! Just call me Davy Jones...
